The checklist at a glance
Work through these seven steps in order. Most couples who are unhappy with their wedding photos skipped step two or step five.
| Step | What to do | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Fix events and dates | List every event — dholki, mehndi, nikah, baraat, walima — with dates and venues | Quotes are built per event; without the list no two quotes are comparable |
| 2. Review full galleries | Ask for two or three complete wedding galleries, ideally in venues like yours | Highlight posts show the best ten frames; a full gallery shows consistency |
| 3. Check the style | Decide between candid, posed, editorial or a mix | Style is hard to change on the day; pick a photographer who already shoots it |
| 4. Meet or call | Speak to the person who will lead your coverage | You will spend the whole wedding with them; trust and calm matter |
| 5. Get it in writing | Team, hours, deliverables, dates, payment and backups on a booking sheet | Verbal promises are the most common source of disputes |
| 6. Compare like for like | Line up quotes by events, team size, hours and deliverables | A cheaper quote is only cheaper if it buys the same thing |
| 7. Book early | Pay the holding fee once you are sure | Peak-season weekends in Lahore book first |
Questions to ask every photographer
Ask each photographer the same questions so the answers line up side by side:
- —Who exactly will photograph my events — you, a second shooter, or someone else from your team?
- —How many photographers will be at each event, and for how many hours?
- —Can I see two or three complete wedding galleries, not just highlights?
- —How many edited photos will I receive, and by what date?
- —Do you carry backup cameras, memory cards and lighting?
- —How do you handle low light on the mehndi stage and dance floor?
- —Is drone coverage included for outdoor venues, and who arranges permission?
- —Is there a same-day highlight reel, and is an album included?
- —What is the payment schedule, and what happens if our date changes?
- —Is travel outside Lahore included or added on top?
Red flags to watch for
- —Only Instagram highlights, and no complete galleries when you ask.
- —Vague answers about who will turn up on the day.
- —No written booking sheet or contract — just a WhatsApp voice note.
- —No backup equipment, or no clear answer about what happens if a card fails.
- —Delivery promised "soon" rather than on a date.
- —A price far below every other quote with no explanation of what is left out.
- —Pressure to pay in full immediately to "lock" a discount.
What to get in writing
Before you pay a holding fee, the booking sheet should state:
| Item | What it should say |
|---|---|
| Events and dates | Every event covered, with date, venue and start time |
| Team | Number of photographers (and videographers) per event, and who leads |
| Hours | Hours on site per event, and the rate if an event runs over |
| Deliverables | Number of edited photos, reels, films and album pages |
| Delivery dates | When each deliverable arrives, and how (gallery link, drive, print) |
| Payment | Holding fee, balance and due dates |
| Changes | What happens if a date moves or an event is cancelled |
| Backups | Spare cameras on site and how raw files are archived |
| Usage | Your rights to print and share; whether the studio may post your photos |
How to compare quotes fairly
Put every quote into the same grid: events, photographers per event, hours, edited photos, reels or films, album, drone and travel. Gaps show up immediately — often the lower quote has one photographer instead of two, or no album, or fewer hours. For typical Lahore price bands, see the wedding photography prices guide linked below.
How Basil Studios answers the checklist
Every package below states team, coverage, edited-photo count and delivery time up front. Every shoot carries a backup camera, memory and lighting, raw files are kept on two drives plus the cloud for at least 24 months, and a signed booking sheet with a holding fee locks your date. Your final quote is confirmed the same day on WhatsApp.

Frequently asked questions
What should I ask a wedding photographer before booking?
+
Ask who will shoot your events, how many photographers and hours you get per event, how many edited photos you receive and by when, whether they carry backup gear, and what the payment and date-change terms are. Ask to see complete wedding galleries, not just highlights.
How far in advance should I book a wedding photographer in Lahore?
+
As soon as your date is fixed. November to February is peak wedding season in Lahore and weekend dates book first.
How many photographers do I need for a Pakistani wedding?
+
One photographer can cover a small dholki or nikah. For the mehndi, baraat and walima, two photographers let the bride's and groom's sides be covered at the same time. Basil Studios Signature and Heirloom both include two photographers.
What are the red flags when hiring a wedding photographer?
+
No complete galleries to show, vague answers about who will shoot, no written booking sheet, no backup equipment, no firm delivery date, and pressure to pay everything up front.
How much does a good wedding photographer cost in Lahore?
+
It depends on events, team size and deliverables. Basil Studios starts from PKR 65,000 for one event, PKR 165,000 for two events with two photographers, and PKR 385,000 for full multi-day coverage with a film and album.
